Hello everyone, I'm Dr. Amanda Barrientez, founder of ABi Coaching.

Today we're going to talk about how having a SCREW PERFECTION attitude will help you play bigger so you can maximize your potential.

Have you ever thought of the ways that

trying to be perfect holds you back and keeps you playing small?

We don't usually think about playing small as trying to be perfect, but let's look at some of the sneaky ways that perfectionism shows up in our lives.

Let's use the example of writing a book. Say you've been writing a book for years and you keep working on it and you keep working on it, but you tell yourself that it's taking you so long because it's such a big project.

Or let's say you were recently divorced and you want to get back in the dating world and you keep telling yourself, oh, once I get to that ideal weight, I'll get back out there.

Or maybe you've been working on a website because you want to launch a new business and you keep tweaking the copy over and over and over because it's just not quite right, so it's taking you a really long time to get your business going.

What's going on in all of these instances is that your fears are having you focus on being perfect. These fears can be unconscious or conscious, but what they do is awaken the inner critic to beat yourself up and tell you things like…

You're not good enough.

You'll fail.

Don't even get started.

Why would you want to embarrass yourself?

So, your inner critic keeps your fears awakened and focused on being perfect, which isn't attainable.

It keeps you playing small and hold you back from getting where you want to go.

Here's a super simple yet powerful strategy to help you blast away perfectionism so you can get closer to reaching your goals.

RIGHT NOW, wherever you are,

I want you to say SCREW PERFECTION!

Seriously, do it. Anything you're hesitating on and feeling fearful about, say, screw perfection and take one action step in the direction of realizing your goal.

Let's use the examples from above. Say you've been working on a book and you're super close to being done, but you're afraid to submit it. Say, SCREW PERFECTION and find a publisher to submit it to this week. Will you get rejected? Probably! But you'll be one rejection closer to getting the book published.

Let's say you're wanting to get out there and get dating, but you've been hesitating because you're not at the perfect weight. Say, SCREW PERFECTION. Find One person to go on a date with this week. Do whatever it takes and in the exact body you have. Will you feel scared and awkward? Maybe you'll be rejected? We don't know, but you'll be one day closer to finding someone who likes you in the exact body you have right now!

Let's say you've been wanting to launch the business and you keep tweaking your copy and you're using that as your excuse to hold you back from launching. Say, SCREW PERFECTION. Get it out there this week. Launch the website. It's never going to be perfect. Are you going to have to tweak your copy 8,000 times over the course of your business? Absolutely! But you will get better and better and better and learn as you go!

So try it out – anything you're hesitating on and fearful about, say SCREW PERFECTION and take one step in the direction of your goals.

The main takeaway for today is:

Trying to be perfect is an unconscious fear-based strategy that keeps you stuck in your comfort zone and playing small.

Anytime you notice yourself trying to be perfect and hesitating on something you say you want, switch your mindset to a screw perfection attitude and take one action step in the direction of your goals.

Successful people know that perfectionism is a bad habit that holds you back from getting where you want to go because it takes making mistakes to learn and grow.

So screw perfection. Switch your mindset. Get out there, fall on your face, and make some mistakes. Learn and grow and BECOME AN IMPERFECT GOAL ACHIEVING BAD ASS!
